“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

We all want to act generous, but most of us find this difficult to do. The demands on our time and financial resources are never ending. We're enticed to buy things that are new or the latest version of the old. We’re encouraged to consume and possess more stuff.

But there’s good news!

Jesus offers us a way to defy gravity and break free from the culture of more.

When we follow Jesus, we develop a spirit of generosity that makes us eager to give.

We overflow with love and the desire to bless others as Jesus blesses us.

Join us on November 3rd as we begin Defying Gravity, a four-week stewardship series that explores what the Bible says about how to experience a generous life.

About the 2019 Stewardship Campaign

This year’s stewardship campaign involves the study of Pastor Tom Berlin’s book Defying Gravity: Break Free from the Culture of More. In his book, Berlin discusses the pull of “financial gravity” on our lives and how to change this perspective and see generosity as a deliberate practice that actually moves us closer to God through stewardship of His Kingdom.

Stewardship is the responsible planning and management of resources. In the life of the church, it's the time of year when we're all asked to reflect on the different ways we contribute to God’s work in the church – through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

At the conclusion of this 4-week series, we ask that everyone turn in an Estimate of Giving card, in an act of making a financial commitment to the church. We do this for two reasons:

  • It allows us to accurately plan our budget based on the dollar amount our members plan to give

  • The act of filling out a card is a way for you to set goals for your financial giving

Committing yourself to financially supporting the church symbolizes the priority you place on returning back to God some of the blessings you have received.

Your financial support will help fund outreach programs such as:

  • Dynamic events for children and youth

  • Pastoral counseling

  • Music programs

  • ELL classes for English learners

  • Hosting community activities

  • Feeding the hungry in local communities

  • Disaster relief supplies and aid

  • Manna at the Shore

  • Sunday school and worship services

  • Church staff

  • Building utilities and maintenance

  • International mission trips

  • Family Promise
